Interactive SMS TV Games

Interactive SMS TV games were developed to be played over TV networks by using your SMS input as a means to control your on-screen actions. These games were developed for 8TV Malaysia and ASTRO Malaysia.

This was a project that I have worked on in MYGO Solutions as an intern in 2005 and later as a game designer in 2008 after graduating from college.

These games are mainly designed with a simple mechanic where the player destroy on-screen targets to accumulate points by SMS-ing the angle that they plan to shoot at. Some of these games were designed with an overarching co-op goal and some are purely competitive.

For example, Fly n' Pick was designed with an overarching co-op goal where the players' accumulated effort will bring them up to a 'Heaven' level or descend them to a 'Hell' level if they fail to meet the co-op goal.

While for games like Moo Moo Saviour and Armageddon the overarching co-op goal serves only as a backstory about defending from an alien invasion or rain of meteors respectively.

Strike Out is a game developed mainly for competitive play where players try to accumulate the highest score possible.

These games are no longer on-air.

Monkey Goin' Bananas

*Screenshots are not up to date. Searching for the latest playable build*

Monkey Goin' Bananas is another game developed for the iOS. It is an action tower defense game which let the player actively defend the Stone Gua, a religious site, from a sudden influx of tourists.

Mon & Ki are the resident monkeys at the Stone Gua. Depending on where the player taps the screen, Mon & Ki will hurl banana skins at those unsuspecting tourists.

Besides throwing an endless amount of magically generated banana skins, Mon & Ki has a variety of "weapons" at their disposal as well. Huge cluster of bananas will be used as a makeshift bomb and Mon & Ki will also put on sunglasses to deter camera flashes from unscrupulous tourists. This power-ups are ironically dropped by tourists.

The tourists come in all shape, size and manner. Some are agile, some ca withstand more than one direct hit and some would even bring umbrellas to repel the banana skin onslaught.

This game is currently unreleased.

Life's A Game: Live Borderless

*Game download link coming soon*

Daily routines are dull but what if we look at it from a different perspective?

Life's A Game: Live Borderless (LAG:LB) is a collection of mini games depicting our mundane daily routines. You will shave your moustache, you will run from a mad dog, you will perfect the art of sleeping on the job or your house might even get abducted by aliens. Yes, your house!

LAG:LB's mini games are developed with simple control mechanics that would allow anyone of any age to play it. Also, you don't actually hit a 'Game Over' screen when you fail to do something in a particular mini game.

How can you possibly fail wearing a Batman suit?

At the end of LAG:LB, your "performance" will be graded by Mr. Owl. If you sucked, don't be sad! Mr. Owl will give you some much needed motivational advise and off you go to start off another new day.. I mean game and play it better than your last playthrough.

Forget about Confucius. Mr. Owl says...

You will only get better in life if you try again, right?

Got to take life easy. One hip-thrust at a time.
Oh, by the way. Remember the aliens that I mentioned earlier? Well, it's an Easter Egg. I can't tell you how they appear but the keyword here is patience. And speaking of Easter Eggs you might find some... you know what? Just try out the game for yourself. Have fun!

That's not how you treat the Pizza Boy!

Peach Black

Jimmy is a janitor. He is afraid of the dark. The king's a jerk. Monsters are invading. What can he do?
Jimmy
Peach Black is a 3D action-survival shooter that pits Jimmy against hordes of monster, big and small, that are weak against the light. Jimmy will also have an arsenal of guns at his disposal. When things get too hairy, drop a flashbang.

A special power-up will drop occasionally. It causes a pillar of light dubbed the 'Lights from Heaven' to shine down  onto Jimmy and kills most monster with a hit.

HALLELUJAHHHHHH!
Some monsters such as Quid will be able to resist most of the light damage while monster's like Blinky would cause a complete black out when they spawn on the level.

Each level has a Boss that can be fought in their respective Boss Mode. The Bosses have unique weaknesses that the player can exploit to defeat them.

Rocky takes twice the damage when exposed to light
Peach Black also has a level editor that is currently available only for the developers.
