Interactive
SMS TV games were developed to be played over TV networks by using your
SMS input as a means to control your on-screen actions. These games
were developed for 8TV Malaysia and ASTRO Malaysia.
This
was a project that I have worked on in MYGO Solutions as an intern in
2005 and later as a game designer in 2008 after graduating from college.
These
games are mainly designed with a simple mechanic where the player
destroy on-screen targets to accumulate points by SMS-ing the angle that
they plan to shoot at. Some of these games were designed with an
overarching co-op goal and some are purely competitive.
For
example, Fly n' Pick was designed with an overarching co-op goal where
the players' accumulated effort will bring them up to a 'Heaven' level
or descend them to a 'Hell' level if they fail to meet the co-op goal.
While
for games like Moo Moo Saviour and Armageddon the overarching co-op
goal serves only as a backstory about defending from an alien invasion
or rain of meteors respectively.
Strike Out is a game developed mainly for competitive play where players try to accumulate the highest score possible.
These games are no longer on-air.
